Four-band bill rocks out for a half-million-dollar medical-relief fund
We here are a bit sensitive to the whole transplant thing; co-owner John Jeter just marked the 28th anniversary of his brother Stephen’s kidney donation. So when Greenville own Taylor Moore and his band, Dirty Deacons, asked to put together a benefit for an Upstate friend with a transplanted liver, we couldn’t resist. Taylor, who has opened here for Grace Potter & the Nocturnals and Delbert McClinton, “absolutely beats his guitar senseless,” says Atlanta Music Guide. Also on the bill: Jeff Santiago y Los Gatos Negros just played Warren Haynes’ Christmas Jam, and his acoustic-rock (think: a more-rockin’ Rodrigo y Gabriela) has been on Asheville radio and Charleston TV. Next: Nobody has to remind folks here about The Swingin’ Richards, the cover band with a 100-song catalogue. And: My Beating Heart, the Matt Holmes-led machine that booms radio-friendly rock in the vein of OKGO, Coldplay and MGMT. And who’s this party benefit? Mo Gesauldi, whose liver transplant cost a walloping $520,000.
